  • Desolation Sound recommendations?

We are heading north from Seattle in June-July for a trip into BC. So far on the itinerary we will hit Ganges, Garden Bay/Pender Harbour, and Prideaux. Maybe Cortes on the way back.

Any destination recommendations for either anchorages or dockage on the cheaper side? We prefer anchoring if possible and we will be with 3 other vessels traveling together. We were thinking Octopus islands and maybe Dent but people are already telling us Dent is filling up, needs reservations and is spendy!

    Thoughts? Comments?

Yes sir. We want to use the outstations to get up and back but once there looking for some places to throw out the hook for a couple of days and explore a bit. At some point we may need to reprovision too.

anywhere up in desolation is spectacular. pick up one of the cruising guide books for the area and choose what suits you best.

^^^^ +1 to that. Not sure if there is a bad spot in Desolation sound.

It has been several decades since I was there. And I was in a small trailerable. Spent about a week or so with a group. That sound is very nice highly recommend.

SYC here as well. For your first trip, consider Walsh Cove, Squirrel Cove, Teakerne Arm and Prideaux Haven with a stop at Refuge Cove for any needed supplies. On your way home stop at Oven’s Island outstation.
